United Way of Greater Mercer County recently surveyed nonprofit organizations in Mercer County to assess the immediate and long-term impacts of federal funding disruptions. The results are sobering.
Key findings from our new report, Disrupted: How Federal Funding Volatility Is Affecting Nonprofits, include:
66% of organizations have already had programs impacted, including housing, food access, and victim support services.
Over 180 nonprofit employees are affected by staffing cuts, frozen positions, or job eliminations.
The cumulative budget impact exceeds $11.5 million, threatening the viability of essential community services.
Nonprofit organizations are doing their best to adapt—tapping reserves, laying off staff, reducing services—but the outlook remains uncertain. As one leader put it: “We are being forced to spend time on survival rather than service.” Nonprofits are resilient and will continue to be impactful despite extraordinary challenges. Let’s support our nonprofit community.
