New Jersey Law Modernizes Legal Notice Requirements
Beginning March 1, 2026, a new New Jersey statute (P.L. 2025, c.72) requires legal notices to be published online.
Under the updated law, corporations, individuals, and other non-public entities required by law or court order to publish a legal notice must do so in an eligible online news publication.
MercerMe meets the statutory criteria for an online news publication under this framework. MercerMe has been in continuous operation since 2013, publishes news on matters of public concern, maintains publicly accessible and searchable archives, and carries the required $1 million media liability coverage.
“MercerMe has spent more than a decade building a reliable digital platform for local information,” said Mary Galioto, publisher and founder. “This change recognizes that online publications now serve as a central place where residents look for official information.”
MercerMe is also designated as an official newspaper for Hopewell Township and Pennington Borough.
As a digital publication serving Hopewell Valley for more than a decade, MercerMe provides a public, searchable and permanent platform for legal notices — accessible without subscription or registration and published according to the required schedule.
Organizations anticipating required legal notice publication after March 1 may submit notices directly at:
