Introducing Princeton AlumniCorps: 35 Years of Civic Leadership and Impact

Princeton AlumniCorps is proud to join the Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber community. Princeton AlumniCorps is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is committed to building a more just, equitable, and sustainable society by developing and engaging leaders and professionals of all ages to advance social change.

Princeton AlumniCorps’ story began in 1989, when Ralph Nader and members of Princeton’s Class of 1955, known as the “55ers”, came together to imagine how alumni could extend their impact beyond campus and contribute to the greater good. Guided by their conviction that “the function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers,” Princeton Project 55, now Princeton AlumniCorps, was founded. Thirty-five years later, AlumniCorps has engaged more than 2,500 alumni and volunteers, partnered with over 500 nonprofit organizations, and built a thriving community of changemakers who continue to strengthen democracy and expand opportunity.

Located at 12 Stockton Street in Princeton, AlumniCorps trains and develops civic leaders through two flagship programs, Project 55 and Emerging Leaders. The Project 55 Fellowship places recent Princeton graduates in year-long, paid positions at nonprofit organizations across the country, where they gain hands-on experience in service and leadership. The Emerging Leaders program supports early-to mid-career nonprofit professionals by providing them with the tools, mentorship, and networks they need to grow as leaders in the social impact sector. These programs continue a long tradition of fostering civic leadership and engagement.
