MercerMe Launches Campaign to Expand Recurring Community Support
HOPEWELL VALLEY, N.J. — MercerMe, the independent digital news organization serving Hopewell Valley, has launched a community campaign aimed at reaching 450 recurring monthly and yearly supporters.
The campaign comes as MercerMe continues to invest in consistent local reporting at a time when community news organizations across New Jersey and the country face growing financial pressure and declining traditional advertising revenue.
“One year ago, MercerMe brought on its first full-time editor, a major investment that strengthened our ability to provide consistent, thorough reporting focused on the issues shaping life in Hopewell Valley,” said Mary Galioto, founder and publisher of MercerMe. “That kind of reporting only continues because community members choose to support it directly.”
MercerMe provides ongoing coverage of local government, schools, development, infrastructure, public safety, and community life throughout Hopewell Valley. The organization publishes daily reporting online and reaches approximately 22,000 readers each month.
A little more than 400 people currently support MercerMe through recurring monthly or yearly contributions. The campaign seeks to expand that base to strengthen the long-term sustainability of independent local reporting in the community.
The campaign will also coincide with Pennington Day, where MercerMe will distribute “KEEP NEWS LOCAL” shirts to new recurring supporters while supplies last.
