Mercer County Businesses Invited to Support International Overdose Awareness Day on August 27
Dear Princeton-Mercer Regional Chamber,
The business community has always played a vital role in strengthening the health and well-being of Mercer County. This year, local businesses have an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD), taking place on August 27, through a collaborative effort led by Mercer Council's Prevention Coalition of Mercer County in partnership with the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office.
International Overdose Awareness Day is the world's largest campaign dedicated to ending overdoses, reducing stigma surrounding substance use disorders, and honoring the lives of those lost while supporting families, friends, and communities affected by addiction. The event brings together community leaders, healthcare professionals, first responders, educators, advocates, families, and residents to promote awareness, prevention, recovery, and hope.
Why This Event Matters
Substance use and overdose continue to impact families, workplaces, and communities throughout New Jersey. Every day, employers see firsthand how these challenges affect workforce health, productivity, employee well-being, and family stability.
International Overdose Awareness Day serves as a powerful reminder that prevention, education, and community support can save lives. Through remembrance activities, educational resources, community engagement, and prevention messaging, the event creates an opportunity for Mercer County residents to come together around solutions and support.
A Call to the Business Community
Mercer Council and its partners invite businesses throughout Mercer County to become event sponsors and demonstrate their commitment to building a healthier, stronger community.
Sponsorship support helps fund event programming, educational materials, outreach efforts, community resources, and activities that increase awareness and promote prevention. In return, sponsors receive recognition as community-minded organizations that are investing in the well-being of local families and neighborhoods.
Supporting this event is more than a sponsorship opportunity—it is a statement that your organization values community health, supports prevention efforts, and believes in creating pathways to hope and recovery.
Benefits of Sponsorship
Businesses that support International Overdose Awareness Day may receive:
* Recognition before, during, and after the event
* Visibility among community leaders, residents, and partner organizations
* Opportunities to demonstrate corporate social responsibility
* Association with a respected countywide prevention and awareness initiative
* The chance to contribute directly to life-saving education and outreach efforts
