The Children’s Home Society of New Jersey Names Karen Faiman Vice President of Philanthropic Partnerships & Strategic Giving
Trenton, NJ, March 4, 2026 —The Children’s Home Society of New Jersey (CHSofNJ) is pleased to announce that Karen Faiman has joined the organization as Vice President of Philanthropic Partnerships & Strategic Giving.
In this role, Faiman will lead philanthropic strategy to advance CHSofNJ’s mission, with a particular focus on ensuring the long-term sustainability of maternal health initiatives and community-based doula programs. The position is partially funded through a generous grant from Burke Foundation, a philanthropic organization committed to improving birth outcomes for historically marginalized communities.
Faiman brings more than 18 years of experience in nonprofit management, institutional fundraising, and partnership development. She is widely recognized for cultivating values-driven relationships and translating strategic vision into measurable community impact.
“Karen’s depth of experience, collaborative approach, and commitment to equity align powerfully with our mission,” said Julie Dees, President and CEO of CHSofNJ. “Her expertise will strengthen our philanthropic partnerships and help ensure the sustainability of programs that support mothers, families, and communities across New Jersey.”
Prior to joining CHSofNJ, Faiman served as Chief Advancement Officer at YWCA Princeton and as Executive Director of the Lawrence Township Education Foundation, where she led organizational strategy, strengthened governance practices, diversified funding streams, and secured major gifts and partnerships. Earlier in her career, she held leadership roles with Younity (formerly Womanspace) in Lawrence and Wildlife Center Friends in Titusville, NJ. She began her professional journey as a high school Spanish teacher—an experience that continues to inform her commitment to education, equity, and community engagement.
Originally from Maine, Faiman also served as an executive director for nonprofits in that state, grounding her professional experience in both local impact and broader systems change.
“CHSofNJ’s leadership in maternal health and community doula programs reflects what is possible when philanthropy is grounded in equity, trust, and long-term vision,” said Faiman. “I am excited to join this exceptional team and to partner with donors and community leaders to ensure these essential programs are sustained and strengthened for generations to come.”
Faiman holds a Master of Public Policy and Nonprofit Management from the University of Southern Maine and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Colby College. She is fluent in Spanish and remains actively engaged in public service. She currently serves on the Mercer County Commission on the Status of Women and is a board member of the Lawrence Township Community Foundation.
Founded in 1894, The Children’s Home Society of New Jersey is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to saving children’s lives and building healthy families throughout the state, touching nearly 70,000 lives last year.
