100 in 10: MercerMe Launches Membership Campaign to Support Local News
MercerMe, Hopewell Valley’s independent digital news outlet, has launched its first full membership campaign — a 10-day effort to gain 100 new acts of support from readers and community members.
Founded in 2013, MercerMe is a mission-driven publication dedicated to providing trusted, local coverage of government, schools, community events, and the people who shape life in Hopewell Valley. Founder and publisher Mary Galioto and full-time editor Seth Siditsky lead the newsroom, supported by a small but committed team of contributors — most of whom are local residents themselves.
As a new member of the Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber, MercerMe is proud to connect with other businesses and nonprofits that are invested in the health of our local communities.
“Independent local news is essential to a well-informed and connected community,” said Galioto. “We report on the meetings, issues, and stories that often go uncovered elsewhere — and we do it because we believe our towns deserve that level of care.”
The “100 in 10” campaign asks readers to become yearly or monthly supporters to help sustain and strengthen MercerMe’s coverage.
The campaign emphasizes the real-world value of local journalism: when residents are informed, they’re empowered to participate, speak up, and stay connected.
One supporter, Anne Kuhn, shared, “I support MercerMe because it gives me timely, unbiased, relevant local news I can't find anywhere else. This has never been more important than it is today.”
The campaign also showcases the people behind the news — including retired Hopewell Township Police Chief Mike Chipowsky, who volunteers his time to photograph and report on local events. In a recent story, Chipowsky called MercerMe “today’s local news outlet” and urged others to support its work.

Galioto added: “We’re proud to be part of this region’s business and nonprofit ecosystem — and we know that strong local news helps communities thrive. If you believe in the importance of being informed, we invite you to join us.”
